Black Satin BarnPaint on Listed Wooden Cladding, Earls Colne

MICS was commissioned to spray-coat the existing wooden cladding at M.R. Body Work Ltd in Earls Colne, Colchester — a listed building requiring a coating system that would protect the heritage timber substrate while delivering the satin black finish the client specified.

Application used the Graco Ultra Max 695 airless sprayer with BarnPaint from BEDEC THE PAINT COMPANY in its original restoration formulation, selected for durability, weather resistance, and the aesthetic match against the building's listed status. Access was via ladders and assembled platforms, allowing the team to reach all elevations of the cladding without compromising the building's structural integrity.

The finished workshop now stands with a refreshed black satin finish that protects the underlying timber against weather and UV, extending the service life of the cladding while honouring the building's listed character.
